Company History

R. G. Smith Insurance Agency was founded in 1987 when Robert G. Smith received an appointment (contract) with a major insurance carrier. The agency’s first office was located in West Houston. In 1995, Ester Smith, Robert’s wife, decided to become an agent as well and began to oversee the day-to-day operations for the agency. In 2003, Robert passed after a bout with pancreatic cancer. In 2015, Ester retired from the major insurance carrier. Later in 2015, she came out of retirement to purchase an independent agency. Today, the agency is still family-owned and operated by Ester and her son Shelby.
